Terms and Conditions
Welcome to thelinuxshop.org! Before you purchase, please read these terms carefully. By placing an order with us, you confirm that you understand and agree to the conditions outlined below.
1. Our Service: What You Are Paying For
This is the most important part: the Linux software we provide is free and open-source. You are not paying for the software itself.
The fee you pay covers our service, which includes:
- The cost of the physical media (high-quality DVD or USB drive).
- The time and resources used to download, verify, and burn the software onto the media.
- Packaging, handling, and shipping costs to deliver the product to you.
2. The Software: Open Source & Licensing
- Open-Source Nature: All Linux distributions sold on this site (e.g., Ubuntu, Fedora, Debian) are distributed under open-source licenses like the GNU General Public License (GPL). We provide exact, unmodified copies of the official releases.
- Your Rights: In accordance with the GPL and other open-source licenses, you have the right to freely copy, modify, and redistribute the software. Our sale of physical media does not limit these rights in any way.
- Source Code: The complete source code for all distributions is available for free download directly from the official vendor websites.
3. Important Disclaimers: Warranty & Liability
A. No Warranty
All software is provided “AS-IS”, with absolutely no warranty of any kind, express or implied. This includes, but is not limited to, any warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement. We do not guarantee that the software will meet your requirements or that its operation will be uninterrupted or error-free.
B. No Technical Support
We do not provide technical support for installing, configuring, or using the Linux distributions. For help, we highly recommend consulting the excellent resources created by the community, such as:
- The official documentation for your chosen distribution.
- Official community forums, wikis, and chat channels.
C. Limitation of Liability
In no event shall TheLinuxShop.org, its owners, or its staff be liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages. This includes, but is not limited to, data loss, system instability, hardware damage, software conflicts, or lost profits arising from the use or inability to use the products purchased from our site. You assume all risk associated with using the software.
4. Trademarks & Affiliation
The names of Linux distributions (e.g., "Ubuntu," "Fedora") and their logos are trademarks of their respective owners (e.g., Canonical Ltd., Red Hat, Inc.).
We are an independent distributor and are not affiliated with, sponsored by, or endorsed by any of these entities. Our role is strictly limited to distributing their freely available software on physical media as a service.
5. Governing Law
This agreement and any disputes arising from your use of our site or products shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the United Kingdom, without regard to its conflict of law provisions.
6. Your Agreement
By completing a purchase on thelinuxshop.org, you confirm that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by these Terms and Conditions. You acknowledge that you are paying for a media creation service, not for the software itself, and you agree to comply with the terms of the applicable open-source licenses.
